One Brick at a Time

Hi Reader!

Welcome to Purpose in Motion—where faith meets purpose and purpose fuels freedom.

Coming Back Stronger

Week Two: Rebuilding After Disappointment

Andrea's Note

Disappointment often makes us believe that nothing good can come from what we have lost.

When we face a setback, it is easy to focus on what went wrong. We think about past conversations, question our choices, and wonder if life will ever feel complete again.

But rebuilding does not start only when we feel better.

It starts as soon as we choose to take the next step with faith.

God does not usually ask us to rebuild everything at once. He just asks us to pick up the next brick.

This Week's Teaching

Disappointment often leaves us feeling powerless.

It can make us think we've failed.

It tells us we missed our chance.

It says we are too far behind.

But disappointment does not have to turn into defeat.

The book of Nehemiah shows us that rebuilding starts with a decision.

Sometimes rebuilding is dramatic.

Most of the time, it seems ordinary.

It means choosing hope instead of despair.

It means choosing prayer instead of panic.

It means choosing faith instead of fear.

It can start with one conversation.

Or one healthy habit. Or one act of obedience.

Small steps can lead to lasting change when we trust them to God.

"Let us start rebuilding." Nehemiah 2:18

Everyday Obstacles

You might be struggling with things like:

  • feeling discouraged
  • being afraid to try again
  • comparing your progress to others
  • not feeling confident
  • feeling overwhelmed

Faith-Based Solutions

This week, focus on making progress instead of aiming for perfection.

Keep in mind:

✔ Even small steps help you move forward.

✔ Celebrate each win, no matter the size.

✔ Try not to compare your progress to others.

✔ Stay close to people who encourage and support your faith.

✔ Trust that being consistent will help you build momentum.

Becoming in Action

Pick one area of your life that you want to improve.

Take a moment to ask yourself: What is one small step I can take this week?

Try not to worry about finishing.

Put your energy into just getting started.

This Week's Prayer

Lord,

Thank You that You are a God of restoration.

Help me not to focus on how much farther I have to go when I think about my progress.

Please give me courage to rebuild, taking it one step at a time.

Strengthen my hands for the work You have called me to do.

Amen.

Reflection Question

  • Is there a part of my life that could use some rebuilding?
  • Is there a step I've been putting off lately?
  • In what ways have I grown during this season?
  • What would making progress look like for me this week?
