Hi Reader! Welcome back to Purpose in Motion: Weekly Encouragement for Your Journey of Faith and Purpose. September Series: Rediscovering Who You Are WEEK 1 — Who Am I Now? Andrea's Note Lately, I've been reflecting on how much we change as we go through life. Sometimes we choose to change, and other times, life decides for us. A season ends, our responsibilities shift, our bodies or relationships change, or something happens that makes us see life and ourselves in a new way. I've gone through enough changes myself to know they can leave you wondering, "Who am I now?" Maybe you've been asking yourself that question too. What I'm learning is that we don't always have to go back to who we used to be. Sometimes God invites us to discover who we've become and to make space for the person we're still becoming. As we begin this month's Purpose in Motion series, Rediscovering Who You Are, I encourage you to be curious. You don't need to have all the answers. There's no need to rush the process. Just be open to meeting yourself again. This Week's Teaching Who Am I Now? Even when your roles change, your identity remains. Have you ever noticed that the woman you are now is different from who you were five or ten years ago? Even when your roles change, your identity remains. Have you ever noticed that the woman you are now is different from who you were five or ten years ago? Life changes us all. Our experiences shape who we become. Pain pushes us to grow. Growth brings its own challenges. Sometimes, in the space between who we were and who we are becoming, we start to ask ourselves: Who am I now? It seems like a simple question, until you try to answer it without talking about what you do. For many women, our sense of identity is closely tied to the roles we play. Mother. Wife. Caregiver. Leader. Employee. Minister. Entrepreneur. But what happens when one of those roles changes? The children grow up. The career ends. The relationship changes. Your health changes. You move. A season you thought would last forever comes to an end. Suddenly, you are not just going through a transition. You are also trying to figure out who you are in the middle of it.
"Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine." Isaiah 43:1
What stands out to me about this Scripture is how personal it feels. Before any title, role, achievement, mistake, or disappointment, God already knew your name. The roles you have are just one part of your life, but they do not define your whole identity. Your purpose or assignment might shift as you move through different seasons of life. Who you are goes much deeper than any role or assignment. Purpose in Perspective Sometimes transition creates what I call an "identity disruption." You felt confident when everyone depended on you. But who are you when they no longer need you like they used to? You knew your identity in your career. Who do you become after retirement? You saw yourself as the strong one. Who are you when you need support? These times might feel unsettling, but they can also be invitations. Sometimes, God uses a new season to help us discover parts of ourselves we've overlooked or to show us the woman we're becoming. Rediscovering yourself doesn't mean turning away from who you were. It means seeing that God is still shaping your story. Becoming in Action Pick one area of your life that you want to improve. Take a moment to ask yourself: What is one small step I can take this week? Try not to worry about finishing. Put your energy into just getting started. Reflection Questions

Sometimes, these changes are simply God's way of inviting her to discover who she is becoming.
